El Portal de El Yunque Visitor Center

El Portal de El Yunque is the main visitor center for the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. Its open-air architecture introduces the forest through interpretive exhibits, a film, art installations, accessible discovery trails, a forest shop, and daily ranger activities. The center is a practical first stop for current access information and a destination in its own right, with broad views into the surrounding landscape. The U.S. Forest Service reopened the redesigned center in 2022 after extensive hurricane reconstruction.
